How it used to look

1973 stock
-
Service: 1975- (refurbished 1996–2001)
-
Motors: LT118 DC motor (max speed 72 km/h)
-
Traction System: Pneumatic single camshaft (GEC Traction)
-
Manufactured by: Metro Cammell (refurbished by Bombardier)
-
Lines served: Picadilly line
-
Train type: Tube
These trains are similar to the 1972 stock, but have longer carriages and a number of technological improvements. During the late 90s, the interior was completely stripped out as part of a major refurbishment, further distancing themselves from the 1972 stock. These trains also have dedicated spaces for luggage, as the Piccadilly line serves Heathrow Airport. Like the 1972 stock trains, these trains are in horrific condition, however the Piccadilly line accumulates even more dust than the Bakerloo, to the point where it's actually a health hazard to travel on this route. The 2024 stock was supposed to be introduced this year, however they have been pushed to the end of 2026, typical TFL.

1992 stock
-
Service: 1992-
-
Motors: LT130 DC motor (max speed 100 km/h)
-
Traction System: Chopper control by GTO thyristor (ABB/Brush Traction)
-
Manufactured by: BREL
-
Lines served: Central Line, Waterloo and City line
-
Train type: Tube
These were the first "modern" stock. These are the only trains on the Underground to have Chopper control. These trains might just be in the most horrific condition out of the entire tube network, as are the stations, just look at these pictures. There is a refurbishment programme in progress for these trains, however, as TFL are TFL, it has been heavily delayed. The programme was supposed to start in 2020, but it's now 2025 and only 3 refurbished trains are in service.

-

-

-

-

The Jubilee line is the most modern out of the 11 tube lines, featuring Platform edge doors in many stations, and significant 4G connectivity. Unfortunately these trains still lack air conditioning and the northern section of the route is extremely loud for your ears.
